Shoulder Dislocation

Stabilizing the shoulder socket to resolve recurrent joint instability.

Shoulder dislocation occurs when the humeral head slips out of the glenoid fossa. This stretches or tears the labrum cartilage (Bankart lesion). Dr. Sai Dinesh diagnoses and repairs this instability via keyhole arthroscopic Bankart stabilization to tighten loose tissues and prevent future dislocation recurrences.

Treatment Pathways

Treatment options depend on age, activity level, and number of dislocations:

  • Arthroscopic Bankart Repair: Reattaching the torn labrum to the socket edge using suture anchors.
  • Latarjet Procedure: Bone transfer surgery, recommended for patients with significant socket bone loss.
  • Conservative Muscle Tuning: Intensive physiotherapy to strengthen shoulder muscles for first-time dislocations.

Recovery Journey

Week 1 – 4: Immobilization

Patient wears a protective shoulder sling to let repaired labrum tissue attach to the bone.

Week 6+: Assisted Stretching

Sling is removed. Exercises focus on external rotation and active overhead range.

Month 4 – 6: Full Agility

Sport-specific agility drills and full rotator cuff strengthening, returning patient to action.
